Here is a chart that presents the median single-family home price divided by the price of one ounce of gold. This results in the home / gold ratio or the cost of the median single-family home in ounces of gold.

For example, it currently takes 153 ounces of gold to buy the median single-family home. This is considerably less that the 601 ounces it took back in 2001. When priced in gold, the median single-family home is down 75% from its 2001 peak and remains well within the confines of its five-year accelerated downtrend.
When this "Ratio gets to about 80-1 (80 ozs of Gold to buy 1 "Medium Priced SF Home", than most Likely Real Estate has hit a Bottom!

In 1980 it took 86 ozs to buy  a  median single-family home!
When it reaches
85 -1 ratio, that wil be the time to "spend some of the Gold you have accumulated these past few years, and Buy a House that will be "Paid for FREE & Clear"!

How is the stock market performing?
It all depends on how you measure. When measured in US dollars, the Dow currently trades approximately 28% below its all-time record high. However, when measured with that other world currency (gold), the picture is even more bleak. To help illustrate the point, today's chart presents the Dow divided by the price of one ounce of gold. This results in what is referred to as the Dow / gold ratio or the cost of the Dow in ounces of gold. For example, it currently takes 8.5 ounces of gold to "buy the Dow." This is considerably less that the 44.8 ounces back in the year 1999.
When priced in gold, the US stock market has been in a severe bear market for the entire 21st century.
